My project was geared towards creating awareness on the issues affecting children, and the harmful practices of FGM, since it was the day of the African child, our discussion was on the safety of children even as we head towards the election period here in Kenya.

On the 21st of December 2021 21-year-old Maseray Sei was found dead in the Bondo Bush in Nyandeni Village, Bonthe District after undergoing Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Sowo women Sandy willing confessed to having initiatied Maseray Sei to FGM. This enabled activists to act fast and the court case was born.
Our project was a radio talk show and social media engagement talking about the practice of FGM, child marriages, and other harmful practices affecting children in West Pokot, especially girls in remote areas.
Children in Kenya continue to suffer the effects of harmful practices including FGM despite the existence of laws and policies that safeguard their rights and welfare.
Justice for her was about challenges that girls go through when trying to access justice whenever they are forced to undergo Female Genital Mutilation. I went to Kehancha, Migori County with a team of two other people. I got to engage with girls who once tried to access justice without success, grassroots activists supporting girls to access legal justice, and grassroots paralegals who have been trained to handle children's cases.
We hosted a radio session on local radio stations (Geetu FM ) with a youth champion to discuss in detail Harmful practices that are affecting the lives of children in our society.
