DIGITAL MAPPING
As part of a collaboration between Wallace Global Fund, the Global Media Campaign, and the Komesha FGM Sasa Programme, supported by UNFPA and the European Union, we are launching the second phase of our Digital Whistleblowers Map.
This new phase will connect our trusted frontline directory of grassroots, primarily women-led anti-FGM organisations with an AI-powered system designed to strengthen community-based protection efforts. The platform links FGM whistleblowers living within cutting communities to an automated AI voice recording system, enabling them to safely report cases and locations where girls may be at risk.
The information provided by whistleblowers is then plotted onto a live digital platform, mapping at-risk areas in real time. This platform can be accessed by relevant authorities — including the Police, the Anti-FGM Board, and local authorities — to support targeted rescue interventions across FGM hotspot areas in Kenya.
In Phase 1, the digital platform helped protect 1,611 girls at the Kuria-Tanzanian border (funded by the Wallace Global Fund).
REPORT & ALERT
Concerned citizens and frontline activists can instantly report planned cutting ceremonies and track cutter’s movements via mobile app, USSD (offline), WhatsApp, or web. The system sends 24/7 alerts to police and the Kenya Anti-FGM Board.
MONITOR & ANALYSE
Authorities and partners can track cases, generate trend data, and use predictive AI to target high-risk areas.
REFER & ESCALATE
Each case moves through a clear workflow – report → police intervention → prosecution → closure – ensuring nothing is lost or delayed.
Being developed in seven Kenyan counties and designed for national scale, the platform integrates with existing referral systems and supports real-time enforcement and long-term prevention, protecting thousands of girls.
