The Amazonian Initiative Movement [AIM-SL] with funds from the Global Media Campaign [GMC] has celebrated the International the Girl Child Day. This day was observed in Kenema City, the regional headquarters in the Eastern province.
In this day and age of the 21st century, is it recognized that voice is empowerment. Women and girls either shy away or lack the platform to present their grievances directly to decision-makers, the proposed media campaign program will publicise girls’ harmful acting by traditional cutting. The opportunity to raise awareness as in imposing experience of self-worth which this campaign anticipates realizing.

My name is Farhan Ahmed, a Somali journalist from MMTV Jigjiga Office based in Jigjiga capital city of the Somali region of Ethiopia in the last two years I have worked with some other main media houses in the region. I was one of the journalists who succeeded to carry out a media campaign program on October 11.
On October 11th, 2021, in Commemoration of the International Day of the Girl, Sustainable Development Initiative (SDI) held a 1-hour live programme on Osun State Broadcasting Corporation OSBC Radio 104.5 FM where Mr. Ademola Adebisi an FGM/ Gender-Based Activist (Executive Director, Value Reorientation for Community Enhancement), Miss Tosin Olarewaju a Child right Advocate and Salami Sheriff a public health practitioner were the guests, The program was anchored by Mrs. Olusola Ayesebolatan Marcus an OAP.
Report of Media Outreach and school sensitization on Ending FGM in Osun State, in Commemoration of the 2021 International Day of the Girl with the theme: "DIGITAL GENERATION, OUR GENERATION.”
To commemorate the International Day of the Girl, the campaign was taken to Rave (91.7) in Osun state to discuss the issues affecting the girl child, relating it to this year’s theme “Digital generation. Our generation”.
The International Day of the Girl is commemorated every October, 11 as declared by the United Nations. For 2021, the theme for the year is “Digital generation. Our generation.”
With support from the Global Media Campaign to end FGM on International Day of the Girl, we held a presser with Radio Togotane 88.3FM together with 20 school-going girls drawn from Kuria – Migori County, who were able to air out challenges affecting them including harmful cultural practices such as FGM.
