Round Table Radio talks on ending FGM and Gender-Based Violence, Nigeria

By Adedeji Adefila,

Our activities at PeeDee Media Consult and Development began with Visit to Communities in Boripe, Ede South, Oriade, Ife South, Ede North, Odo Otin, Ayedire, Ayedaade, Olorunda Atakunmosa West, Obokun and, Ife North LGAs in Osun State.

Since we noticed that Community Engagement into the Rural Communities are a way to Sensitize the people because of their huge numbers at meetings.

The communities always had the Men, Women, Youth, and Persons with Disability groups on the ground. Our highest attendance was at Olofa Quarters in Boripe LGA where 412 people gathered while the lowest attendance was at Ifewara Community of Atakunmosa West where 243 people were present.

A Live Radio show was carried out on Osun State Broadcasting Corporation OSBC Radio on Saturday 4th December 2021 on a show called Breakfast Tray between 9.30 am and 10.30 am. The discussion was about the Theme of the Year, Orange the World was at the forefront, how to Stop Violence Against Women and FGM was rigorously talked about too. We had phone calls which made the show more interesting.

Conclusively, the activity was a big success and it is satisfying to note that many of the callers on the Radio now have a good understanding of our reaching out to stop abuse and violence against the Female Gender in society.
